Mayakoba Touristic Development

Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo.
Also known as the Venice of the Mexican Caribbean, Mayakoba has distinguished as an innovative and environmental development among the tourism sector, certified for its high environmental design principles. Koba means "lake" in Maya, hence the name Mayakoba.

Being part of the Unidad Diseño’s design team, the coordination of conceptual and creative design stage of the 18.75 hectares development’s lagunar system was executed. The landscape design required innovative solutions in order to avoid irrigation and costly maintenance for operation, we found solutions working together with biologists in order to understand native plants behaviour and characteristics. We also coordinated the construction documents and architectural supervision on site for the lagunar system, the docks, pedestrian and vehicular bridges, roads and walkways of the Mayakoba.
